If you really want to dig deeper into “image” when we are done with the 31 days, then I highly recommend Madeleine L’Engle’s book, “A Circle of Quiet.” It is a memoir that is lovely to read in imagery and in thought. Most of the time I did not realize I was reading about ontology. I am certain I need to reread it slowly so I can better savor it.
The second quote I shared here about self-consciousness reminds me of the concept of dying to self. Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” If when we do whatever thing it is that makes us not self-conscious (where our passion lies), imagine the God in us coming to fan the flame that doing that thing ignites in us. What kind of bright Jesus lights we would be, when we die to self and allow God to create in us? Just my thoughts as I reflect on that quote.
