It is spring here in Alabama. I love the spring, and I am always compelled to write about it. The red buds have bloomed, the dogwoods are blooming, but this year instead of the blooms popping open first the trees were first colored with green leaves. No matter how early Easter comes in a year, spring always seems to come with it, but the earlier the spring the more likely that leaves will come before buds on a dogwood tree.
In my yard, I have a mutabilis rose bush (butterfly rose), and it is quite green and lovely. The azaleas are budded and ready to bloom – one small one, red in color is bloomed out, and my viburnum are almost bloomed out as well. I love to drive up to my driveway and see the colors and shapes popping out. My yard is small, but we are on a wooded lot, that reminds me of growing up in the country like my childhood. I love Alabama in the spring. But unfortunately it lasts about 3 days before summer comes. When I got home the thermometer already read 81 degrees on the back porch. The cars and ground are covered in a heavy layer of yellow dust – no one is immune to the pollen on the driveway and cars, or the tracking of it into the house. Clouds of pollen blow off the street as the wind blows.
It’s a time to sit quietly on the porch but no one does if they have any sort of seasonal allergy. The kids play long and hard in the cul-de-sac after school, riding bikes, and spraying water from guns. The spring is happy and full of new life.
Which makes me wonder – what sprouts are springing in your life? 😉
Today, God gave me two Brit Nicole songs to share. Brit Nicole is pop sounding, and while I know my audience is not generally youth and you may not be into pop music, I can tell that her heart is for reaching the younger generation. BUT, I like to pretend that I am a child and dance dance dance whirling around my dress when I do, so listen when you can – grab a kid and swing them around and laugh, sing, and play! And if you don’t have a kid, grab a friend or a hubby!
The first one is this (All This Time):
And the second one is this (Gold):
Love you so much!
