Today I am linking up with Gypsy Mama for Five Minute Friday.
“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17
I often forget how much my God delights in me. When I cannot see it in human form, I forget it is always happening in the hidden unseen realm.
Just recently, I read in my James study how God would occasionally be boasting in His children. It blew my mind. I cannot fathom a God as great and as powerful as He is boasting in me. I mean, what am I that He would boast in me?
It reminds me of my dad, who although I had a strange relationship with, I had a good relationship with in many ways too. I loved to hear him boast and brag about me. And though he often did it in secret, he did do it. He loved me a whole heck of a lot.
Scripture often talks about God taking delight in His children as a father delights in his children. I think I forget that means that God is delighting in me. Just as I watch my children and find pure joy and delight and laughter in the things they do, so He does with me. There is absolutely nothing that compares to this kind of delight and pleasure.
Why, oh why, do you get downcast, O my soul, when there is a God who loves you so much to delight in you! It’s unimaginable. Unbelievable, and yet, it is true.
Take heart, dear one, if you are His child, He delights in you too.

When I think of all the things I am not, imagining God delighting in me can be tought. And yet, when my kids are downcast, I am first to sing this truth. An inconsistency to pray about. Thank you for sharing.

Amen, sister! It is so hard to know it isn’t it? He delights in us. Such a wow factor to stop and think about. I hope He speaks to your heart.

Sweet Jamie, your words resonated with me today, especially this: “Scripture often talks about God taking delight in His children as a father delights in his children. I think I forget that means that God is delighting in me.” Exactly. How amazing that He rejoices over us with singing!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful post and your heart for Him. Blessings, friend!
