He opens the door to his home, and as soon as he does, I hear his little voice chattering away.
“Elijah, you can sit here. I am going to sit here, and you can sit here by me.” I hear him say this as I wait for Daniel to get Libby out of the car, still outside his house.
He is happy to see us and constantly chatters away. It is a noise I love to hear, but yet it is so different from my own children. It seems he speaks out loud everything that comes into his mind.
“Elijah, you sit here. I will sit here. Lisabeth will sit by you, and Annabelle will sit across from her.”
“Look at the treats. Do you know where we got the treats? My Mama Rains sent them.”
His mom explains that he will share the treats with my kids after dinner.
“No. Those are for our family.” he says.
She gently explains that we share with our friends, and if he cannot share, perhaps he will not eat one either.
He is agreeable to sharing now.
“They are very good. You will like them.” he says.
I ponder in my mind how lively he is, while we all sit, eat, and listen, my family entertained by his living out loud and his words. Thank you, Levi, for being a gracious host to us, for living loud like my daughter does.

The voice a child is so precious, isn’t it? I love how they think and process their world out loud for everyone to hear. I’m visiting from FMF…thanks for a great post!
