Intro
I have decided to join in the 31 day series this year. This year my topic is 31 days of Broken into Beautiful! I really did not know if I would be able to pull it off, as I have felt quiet in this space lately. But then, God gave me a topic. My mind as been so dry in regards to words and writing, so I hope to produce something God is pleased with and that is beneficial to each of you as well. Maybe it will stir my heart to writing publicly again.
For regular subscribers, I plan to suspend emails and just send a post once or twice a week with links and summaries to each post. That way I will not inundate you with 31 days of emails. However, if you want to receive it everyday, let me know. Email me at brownpaperandstrings@gmail.com.
Background
This series is based on two verses, but hopefully you will see how it relates to much of the Bible too.
“and I know God has made everything beautiful for its time. God has also placed in our minds a sense of eternity; we look back on the past and ponder over the future, yet we cannot understand the doings of God.” Ecclesiastes 3:11 (The VOICE)
and
“We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan.” Romans 8:28 (The VOICE)
I will be writing stories or devotionals, sharing experiences, or looking at Bible verses where broken things, things we often don’t like or understand, are turned into beautiful things, from bad choices to sin to infertility, etc.

Looking forward to your blog series! This topic is one of my favorites. I find it simply amazing the way God takes our ashes and makes it into something breathtakingly beautiful… even if it’s imperfect.

Hello Jamie!
I did my first 31 days challenge last year. And just as your series attests to, it was only possible because of my being in a broken place… me having to quit my job to take care of myself for a season during a really hard time. My own social media presence has dribbled down to near silence. In large part to us finally moving to a rural home with the world’s worst internet connection! Yet, I know even this technical of the world situation has God’s sovereign Hand all over it. I am spending time on non- web writing. I am so drawn to your series because you have long been a “kindred spirit” in bloglandia, and due to the fact that my current writing The Lord has given me is a part Bible study on the book of Colossians / part spiritual memoir. The over reaching word The Holy Spirit keeps bringing up is BROKENNESS. I have read your last two posts. You are writing such enriching and thoughtful stuff here. I will definitely be staying tuned in! Praying for you that you will have” ears to hears” to write whatever and however The Holy Spirit leads.
Cheers,
Leah

Leah,
I so appreciate you! I do feel we are kindred spirits in bloglandia. 🙂 I, too, have been focusing on non-web writing. I was kinda surprised to find myself writing this series, because I wasn’t sure I was really ready to come back to the public sphere. But here I am. I appreciate your prayers that I would have ears to hear. I will pray for you also, that the Lord would be faithful to speak into you during this quiet season, that He meets you in Colossians and in your private journaling or writing that you do. I would love to hear more about your broken place some day. Until then, so glad to have you joining in.
xoxo. Love,
Jamie
