When I saw the prompt for Five Minute Friday, this poem came to me. It did take me longer than five minutes to write it just the way I wanted it to be. I hope you enjoy. If you want to link up or read what others had to say about red, head on over to Lisa Jo’s Five Minute Friday: Red.
Five Minute Friday: Red
“Red”
Red is the Father
jealous for me
I – still naked and alone,
You came to clothe me
and make us
one.
Your Son had to die.
Red is the blood He shed
to set me free
Black as the night my sins
were to me
Adding His red, the black became
white.
Made clean dressed to wed.
Red are the lips of passion
My Savior’s love for me
Pure, holy. My lover, my friend.
Me? The spotless
bride
Cleaving unto Him.
Red is the Spirit fire
awakening my senses again.
Smelling the aroma, tasting the flesh,
Eyes to see, ears to hear, His
touch
Dwelling inside me.
Red is His enormous love for me
jealousy and passion,
death and life,
together entwined – the
climax
of eternity.
